AFCAT 1 2026 Recruitment: Indian Air Force Officers Notification Out

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the official notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT - 01/2026). The IAF invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens (Men and Women) for the courses commencing in January 2027. This recruitment drive aims to fill Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer posts in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

Interested candidates can apply online from 17 November 2025 to 14 December 2025.

AFCAT 1 2026 Vacancy Details

The Indian Air Force has announced vacancies for Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC).

1. Flying Branch

  • SSC (Men & Women): 38 Posts

2. Ground Duty (Technical) Branch

  • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE(L)}: 129 Posts (Total PC & SSC)

  • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE(M)}: 59 Posts (Total PC & SSC)

3. Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch

  • Weapon Systems (WS): 26 Posts

  • Administration: 60 Posts

  • Logistics: 11 Posts

  • Accounts: 10 Posts

  • Education: 04 Posts

  • Meteorology: 03 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT 1 2026

Candidates must ensure they fulfill the eligibility conditions before applying.

1. Age Limit (as on 01 January 2027)

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years.

    • Born between: 02 January 2003 to 01 January 2007 (both dates inclusive).

  • Ground Duty (Tech & Non-Tech): 20 to 26 years.

    • Born between: 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2007 (both dates inclusive).

  • Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried at the time of course commencement.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Flying Branch:

    • Minimum 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.

    • AND Graduation (min 3 years) with 60% marks OR B.E/B.Tech (4 years) with 60% marks.

  • Ground Duty (Technical):

    • Minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level.

    • AND B.E/B.Tech/Integrated Post Graduation in relevant engineering discipline (Electronics/Mechanical) with minimum 60% marks.

  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical):

    • Weapon Systems/Admin: 10+2 and Graduation (min 60% marks).

    • Accounts: 10+2 and B.Com/BBA (Finance)/BMS (Finance) with min 60% marks.

    • Education: 10+2 and Post-Graduation (min 50% marks).

    • Meteorology: 10+2 and B.Sc/Engineering with Physics and Maths.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee online. AFCAT Entry: ₹ 550/- + GST (18%) NCC Special Entry: Nil (Exempted)

Selection Process

The selection methodology for Indian Air Force Officers involves:

  1. Online Written Exam (AFCAT): To be held on 31 Jan 2026.

    • Subjects: English, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military Aptitude.

    • Marks: 300 (100 Questions).

    • Negative Marking: 1 Mark deducted for every wrong answer.

  2. AFSB Interview: For written exam qualified candidates (Stage-I Screening & Stage-II Psych Test, GTO, Interview).

  3. Medical Examination.

  4. Final Merit List.
